The vehicle recall rate has skyrocketed in the year with most of the major companies issuing recalls citing various reasons. The list of companies includes brands such as Ford, Tesla, Ram, Honda, Nissan and many others. Citing various news articles the total recalls add up to more than 2 million cars.
This recall included Tesla model S (2016-23), model X (2016-23), model 3 (2017-23) and model Y (2020-23). Full self-driving beta or FSD beta is the voluntary recall notice which comes for those Tesla cars that have experimental driver assistance software. Tesla aims to deliver a software update to these cars in order to resolve the issues. This FSD beta resulted in cars acting unsafe around the intersections, entering a stop sign controlled intersection, or proceeding the intersection in yellow traffic signal or responding to changing speed limits. Serious crashes of vehicles may be noticed.
This recall included Nissan models such as Nissan Titan (2008-11), Frontier (2008-11), Xterra (2008-11), Pathfinder (2008-11), Armada (2008-11), Quest (2008-09). The recall reason cited by the company is the faulty airbags. The owners will be notified by April 10, until Nissan creates the remedy for the issue.
Subaru recalled models such as Ascent (2019-22), Crosstrek hybrid (2019-22) and 2023 Solterra. The reason issued by the company involves increased risk of fire due to wiring of a heating system component. Secondly, the hub bolts may not be properly tightened and may cause the wheels to detach from the vehicle. Thirdly, because of the harness terminal which supplies low voltage power from the converter to battery may corrode and cause loss of drive power.
The manufacturer has issued recall for Dodge Ram 1500, 2500, 3500 all from 2019-22. Citing reason for tailgates that may fail to latch properly due to misaligned tailgate strikers, causing the tailgates to open while driving. In addition, in some trucks the intake heater-grid relays may be overheating, posing a fire risk.
Other recalls include Ford and Honda recalling nearly 4000 and 8000 vehicles respectively. Reason being faulty airbags, loose bolt preventing transmission to engage park gear when the gear shifter is in park and issues in powertrain control module. The cars recalled by Ford the cars include Mustang (2022-23), Explorer (2022-24), Bronco (2022-23) and F-150 (2022-23). While that of Honda included models such as Accord (2001-02), Civic (2001-02), 2002 CR-V, 2002 Odyssey and 2003 Pilot.
These recalls were reported by US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA database). Search the database based on vehicle identification number (VIN) to check whether your vehicle is under recall or call the vehicle’s manufacturer for additional information.
